MEDHAVI scholarship scheme brings together ANAND’s aspiration of employing a large number of women on the shop floor and the corporate responsibility of promoting education and skill development. MEDHAVI, a Hindi word, means a genius, intelligent female. As the name suggests, MEDHAVI is a scholarship programme for matriculate girls willing to pursue diploma in mechanical/automobile engineering.

ANAND not only sponsors the 3 year diploma programme but also facilitates employment on completion of the programme. ANAND companies, under the Operating Engineer model, tops the list of potential employers for MEDHAVI awardees. In its 2nd year of operation (piloted on a small scale in 2016), today 102 girls study under the MEDHAVI Scheme in 9 polytechnics across 8 SNSF locations. Nearly 50% of these are based in ANAND’s/SNSF’s locations in the South – Chennai, Hosur and Jodalli. About 76% awardees hail from families with annual income less than Rs 1 Lac and 70% have matriculation scores of 65% to 85%.
